Getting started
Do I need an account?
No. Open a tool, add your file, download the result. There’s nothing to sign up for.
Which browsers work?
Up-to-date Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari, on a computer, an Android phone or an iPhone. Internet Explorer and other very old browsers won’t work, because they’re missing things the tools rely on, such as background workers.
Does PDF365 work offline?
Not quite. The processing happens on your device, but each tool’s code downloads the first time you open it, so you need to be online for that. Your files never travel over the connection.
Files and limits
How large can my files be?
Up to 250 MB per file and up to 100 files at a time when merging. Big files need a lot of memory, so a laptop copes better than an older phone.
The page went slow or crashed with a big file. What can I do?
Which file types are accepted?
PDF tools take PDFs. Image tools take JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP. Text to PDF opens .txt files and HTML to PDF opens .html. We look at what’s actually inside a file rather than trusting its name, so a Word document renamed to .pdf gets turned away with a message explaining why.
Where is my downloaded file?
Wherever your browser saves downloads, usually the Downloads folder. On an iPhone or iPad it’s in the Files app, under Downloads.
Password-protected and damaged PDFs
A tool says my PDF is password-protected
An encrypted PDF can’t be edited until the password’s off. If you know it, Unlock PDF saves an open copy you can use with any tool.
My PDF opens fine but a tool says it has restrictions
Whoever made it set permissions, like “no editing”, without a password to open it. If it’s yours or you have permission, Unlock PDF can lift them.
It says the PDF viewer couldn’t start
That one isn’t about your file. Refresh the page and try again. If it keeps happening, please let us know which browser you’re using.
A tool says my PDF is damaged
It may be incomplete, say from a download that cut out, or written by buggy software. Download it again, or open it in a PDF reader and use Print › Save as PDF to make a clean copy.
Privacy
Are my files uploaded?
No. Every live tool runs in your browser. You can check in your browser’s developer tools: watch the Network tab while a file is processed.
Do you keep copies of my files?
We never get them in the first place. Files only exist in your tab’s memory and are cleared when you press Start over or close the tab.
Is my signature stored?
No. A signature you draw, type or upload only exists while the Sign PDF page is open.
Results
Compress PDF hardly made my file smaller
It was probably efficient already. Text PDFs start out small, and the big savings come from scans and photos. See why some PDFs are so large.
My bookmarks disappeared after merging or splitting
Tools that build a new file out of copied pages leave the bookmarks behind. Rotate, Watermark, Page Numbers, Crop, Resize and Flatten edit the original structure, so they keep them.
Text I added looks slightly different from the preview
The preview borrows similar fonts from your device to stand in for the standard PDF ones. The position is right, but spacing between letters can be a hair different.
