Why PDF365
Why people use PDF365 for real documents
Your files stay with you
The tools run on your own computer or phone. We never receive your documents, so there’s nothing on our side to leak.
No upload, no waiting
A typical merge is done a second or two after you click. Bigger jobs run in the background while the page stays usable.
Free, and no account
Nothing to sign up for and no email to hand over. We don’t stamp our logo on your files either.
Phones welcome
Everything works in mobile Safari and Chrome. Drag handles and buttons are sized for fingers.
We say what the limits are
Each tool page explains what it can’t do. Tools that aren’t ready are marked Planned instead of half working.
Proper PDF engines underneath
pdf-lib does the editing, Mozilla’s PDF.js draws the pages and qpdf handles encryption. All three are widely used open-source projects.
Security and privacy
Your files are processed on your device
Most online PDF sites have you upload the file, process it on their servers and send it back. It works. It also means your tenancy agreement or payslip spends some time on a computer you know nothing about.
We do it the other way round. Opening a tool downloads the code to your browser, and your file is read and changed right there in memory. The finished PDF goes straight to your downloads.
There are no accounts, we don’t log file names, and the site sets no tracking cookies. The privacy policy has the details.
- No uploadsYour PDF is read from your device and never sent to PDF365.
- AES-256 passwordsProtect PDF encrypts with qpdf, an established open-source library, not home-made code.
- Nothing left behindFiles only exist in the tab’s memory. Press Start over or close the tab and they’re gone.
- Locked-down pagesA strict security policy stops our pages loading outside scripts or sending data to other sites.
How it works
How it works
Step 1: Pick a tool
Search for it above or find it in the list.
Step 2: Add your file
Drag it onto the page or tap to browse. It opens in your browser, not on a server.
Step 3: Set it up
Choose pages and options. Most tools show a preview so you can check first.
Step 4: Download
Save the result. When you close the tab, the file is cleared from memory.

Guides to working with PDFs
Plain-English answers to the things people ask us about PDFs, from file sizes to signatures.
Which tool do I need?
A few tools overlap. Split PDF gives you several files, whereas Extract Pages puts the pages you pick into one new PDF. If you’re not sure, Organise PDF is the flexible one: every page as a thumbnail, and you can move, turn, copy or delete them in one go.
File too big to email? Try Compress PDF first. Scans usually shrink a lot, because each page is really a photo. A text-only PDF from Word won’t get much smaller, and that’s normal. Printing in black and white? Greyscale PDF strips the colour and often cuts the size as a bonus.
FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Is PDF365 really free?
Yes. Every tool that’s live is free, with no sign-up and nothing stamped on your files. We plan to pay for hosting with a few clearly labelled ads in the articles and around the pages, never inside a tool and never dressed up as a download button.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. Every live tool runs inside your browser. Your PDF is read into memory on your device and changed there, then handed back as a download.
You don’t have to take our word for it. Open your browser’s developer tools, go to the Network tab and run a tool: you’ll see the page’s code load, but not your file going anywhere.
Which browsers are supported?
Recent versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari, on a computer or a phone. Very old browsers are missing features the tools rely on; if yours is one of them, the tool says so rather than failing quietly.
Is there a file size limit?
250 MB per file. Your device’s memory matters more than that number, though. A laptop handles big documents easily, while an older phone can struggle once files get past about 100 MB.
Can I edit the existing text in a PDF?
Not yet. Add Text puts new text on top of a page, which is fine for filling in forms or adding notes. Changing the words already in a PDF is a much harder problem, and we’d rather wait than ship something that scrambles layouts.
Can you convert Word, Excel or PowerPoint files?
They’re on our roadmap. Good Word and Excel conversion needs a server, and we want proper consent and short retention in place before we switch it on. Until then they’re marked Planned.
